Air Conditioning Rust Protection:
Protecting your air conditioner from the external elements, pests and rust is an important step in maintaining the lifetime of any air conditioning unit.
Compressor units are typically kept outside a home or building and are often out in the open, some are undercover. The Australian weather can damage these units with rain and sun over time, pests accessing the electronics, costing owners thousands of dollars in repairs and or replacement.

How to protect the compressor unit
The first thing to do to protect a unit is to protect the PC boards, which we do with Action HVAC-R liquid and aerosol. What we do is remove the lid, then a light spray over the top of all the boards to give you 12 to 18 months protection. The first step is to isolate the power and unscrew and remove the lid. Once the lid is removed, it’s a simple case of spraying a light coating over all the circuit boards.
That liquid form can be brushed on or can be put directly in a spray gun and sprayed as it is. This coat goes over the entire cabinet, over the fan guards, the coil guards, the lid and on the feet. First of all, we evenly sprayed the lid, the front, and the sides of the cabinet.
Next, we spray the fan guards and ensure that the welds are well coated. We coat the coil guards on the side and the back of the unit. Next, coat the feet of the unit. Next, we coat all the screws on the unit. Protection is very important in maintaining the unit’s efficiency. When the aluminum fins corrode, they form white oxidation which traps sand, salt, dirt, and disrupts air flow. By coating with Action HVAC-R, you’re providing excellent corrosion protection without compromising heat exchange in the coil.
The other part, or the other section of the unit that we look at, is the feet of the unit. Once again, these are off the ground, so they’re not going to be as exposed to rust and corrosion as the ones that are on the ground.
